Inspiring Brighter Futures Foundation founder John Godwin will once again don the boxing gloves to raise awareness and funds for his foundation which provides wellbeing mentoring programs for a wide range of young and disadvantaged people in the community.
To be held from Monday 16th to Saturday 21st December 2024 at Coorparoo Boxing Gym, John is gearing up to box for six days straight and is looking for challengers to support him in the gym or by making a donation.
Besides boxing, there will be a range of other fitness activities available for participants including sit-ups, stationary bike riding, bridges, leg raises, and stair climbs.
John Godwin said, “I feel like I have been boxing since I was born being the youngest of eight kids — I had to come out swinging!
“But importantly, I’m thrilled to do another marathon boxing session. It’s a passion for me to increase the awareness of the great work of our foundation and inspire others to get involved.
“I’m thrilled we have so many people participating with me over the week and welcome everyone to sign up and get involved in some way.”
Godwin last held the boxing marathon in 2021 where the foundation raised around $124,000 to allow many more young people to participate in IBFF’s school-based programs. On that occasion, he completed 27 grueling hours of boxing, threw over 133,00 punches, completed 625 pushups, and ran over 21 kilometres.
The target is for 1,000 people to join in sessions for the week, up from over 870 at the last event.
John’s incredible achievement includes: 🥊 143,772 punches 🏃 17.4 km running 🏢 310 flights of stairs 💥 813 crunches 💪 416 push-ups 🦵 1072 leg raises 🚴 9.1 km cycling 🚶 22.3 km walking
