Taylor Brunton – Facilitating Positive Impact

2 min read

Townsville’s Taylor Brunton has seen some amazing transformations in the lives of young people through the power of mentoring and goal-setting to shape their futures.

A hospitality training facilitator with Allara Learning, Taylor uses her life experiences and passion for hospitality to help others. At Allara Learning she is helping transform job seekers into skilled hospitality professionals through achieving Certificate III in Hospitality accreditation.

Taylor, through Allara Learning, is also active in training with the North Queensland Cowboys’ Dream, Believe, Achieve community training program where she also trains job-seekers for careers in hospitality.

When Inspiring Brighter Futures Foundation was setting up their wellbeing mentoring programs in Townsville two years ago, founder John Godwin was introduced to Taylor through Allara who quickly became a key pillar in supporting the mentoring programs in local schools. She now also works as a facilitator for the Foundation’s eight-week self-development and mentoring program being run in schools including Heatley Secondary College, Pimlico State High School, and Townsville State High School.

“I live and breathe supporting others in my personal life, too,” Taylor says. “I made it my mission to make a better life for myself. I was inspired by my mum, a single parent, who has been my role model.

“I want kids to see they can have whatever life they want if they put their mind to it.

“Their current or past circumstances don’t have to shape their future. It’s so important to connect with like-minded people who will build you up rather than tear you down. It matters who is in your circle.

“In the Foundation’s Onwards & Upwards program, we look at who the young person’s role models are, identify their core values, and take a deep dive into their wellbeing, motivation, resilience, and accountability.”

Taylor says she has seen some amazing transformation in young people coming through the programs.

“We see such a shift in attitude from day one through to the end,” she said. “All of these young people have the potential to succeed and make a positive impact.”

Over eight weeks, participants in the Onwards & Upwards Wellbeing Program delivered to students and emerging leaders in public, flexi, and private schools, undertake a personal development and mentoring program that uncovers and embraces their values as individuals.

Attributes mentors work with students in developing include – their outlook on life, motivation to succeed, engagement with school, developing trusting relationships with adults, setting and achieving goals, and building positive relationships with peers and teachers.

The Inspiring Brighter Futures Foundation plans to hold over 80 programs in 2025, focusing on its core groups of young people facing challenges, emerging student leaders, and job seekers.
