Pitcher Partners Brisbane generously sponsored a program for residents at ‘Sheltered by Grace’ – a homeless shelter located at Waterford. The resident’s backgrounds were mixed and colourful but they all had something in common – they wanted to change their ways and move forward in their life. Pitcher Partners provided this opportunity!
The participants were punctual, attended each week and were committed to the program. They listened, they took advice on board and they set achievable and realistic goals. They accepted a challenge from their mentors to get fit and the mentors started a boot camp one morning a week, donated all the necessary gym equipment and provided the personal trainers. All participants attended.
To see the smile on their face and the spring in their step when they accepted their graduation certificates was very special. They grew an inch taller when their mentor spoke so highly of them and expressed how proud they were of their achievements.
